So I was traveling in the Nordic countries, which is famous for its taste for minimal, modernistic furniture designs. Living in Finland have successfully etched Marimekko's colourful designs into my heart. You see shops selling home products more than you see people on the streets, and both H&M and ZARA have HOME departments in their shops in Sweden and Spain. But who would have guessed that I would find designer furniture on a cruse from Helsinki to Tallinn? I could not emphasize enough my love for these beautiful piece of furniture.
First up, is this CHAIR - That perfect acrylic lace pattern casts perfect geometric shapes on the floor bringing out the whole design of simplicity. Not only does it looks good, but also feels so comfy when you sit on it, none of those slanting-backwards-seats and the back-going-too-far nonsense.
Then comes the brilliance of an overhanging LAMP - It consist of many transparent spheres joined together, giving a round, curvy shape to the whole item. The reflection of the bulb inside the spheres gives the illusion of numerous tiny light bulbs illumining the place. Notice how the actual bulb inside is also spherical, drawing the outer spheres together, completing the whole picture.
It is always a pleasant surprise to find art and beauty in unexpected places. Keep your eyes open and looking, there is always more wherever you go.
